Peggy's Ohio Adventures!

The first photo is me and Robin boxing in North Park in Brunswick, OH with Knittermama and her husband. There was a HUGE, butterfly-eating spider in this tree!
The second photo is a box Knittermama placed with us at Hopkins Park in Brunswick.
There are more photos too, but they'll be in my log book, since Curious Kitty is in them and Knittermama isn't too crazy about posting her kid's picture on the internet.

A Fabulous Time in Ohio!

Hi! I made it to Medina, OH to visit with Knittermama and Curious Kitty awhile ago, but was having issues with my blog so I couldn't post. Let me recap you on all the fun we've had!
Since I've been here I've gone all over the place! I helped place a box at Clay's Park in Canal Fulton, OH and attend Knittermama's husband's company picnic. Then we went to an old lock on the Ohio and Erie canal and found a box. It was awesome!
I've also been to Whipp's Ledges and Worden's Ledges in the Hinckley reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks. Those rocks are so huge and fun to climb! I got my picture taken with a sphnyx and got to meet a new friend named Robin, a webkinz frog.
I also liked helping Knittermama and her family look for geocaches. They aren't quite as cool as letterboxes, but are still pretty fun to find.
I went to a hobo camp and learned about riding the rails. Then I got to ride on them myself on a train in Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Knittermama and I ventured out on our own with Robin once school started and Curious Kitty had to go back. I was a little sad she wasn't playing with me anymore, but Knittermama distracted me with a really adventurous day of boxing. We went to a new park we'd never been to and found a letterbox and geocache, then we went to the library in her hometown to pick up some books and another box. Afterwards we planted a box at her special hiding spot and were on our way to plant another before picking up Curious Kitty, but things got a little scary. Knittermama got lost in the woods on some BMX trails. The trail was about 30 miles long with LOTS of switchbacks. We saw two white tail deer very close up, but then we were WAY in the woods and running out of time. I think Robin started crying and Knittermama was trying not to panic. It was over 90 degrees outside and hot in that backpack. I thought we'd never get home. Good thing I'd learned to use the GPSr and remembered we had it with us, or Curious Kitty would probably still be waiting at school! It all worked out okay though. I got to pretend I was Bear Grylls from "Man vs. Wild" and slide down some steep hills. I think Knittermama got some blisters but we had a great time and grew some self-confidence. We also learned never to leave the car on a new trail without marking the car in the GPSr first.
Robin left today so I'm a little sad, but he's going to visit the family I live with so I might see him again soon! Knittermama said she's running out of nearby boxes to hunt for (and isn't ready again yet for that last plant and may want to rethink it), so I might be travelling on my way soon. Wonder where I'll get to go next?!

Peggy in Packerland

I arrived in beautiful Green Bay WI on June 17th and I’ve had so much fun here. I stayed with the Pugnasties and they took me on lots of adventures.

My first day here I was introduced to some new friends – Little Bear the Pug and two kitties named Socks and Sparticus.

The next day I went to work with Pugnasties (1) and meet all kinds of nice people, I even got to help her answer the phone. I also found my first letterbox in Green Bay right upstairs from her office. I had to hide in the bathroom to stamp in, because there were a lot of people around.

Of course I had to visit Lambeau Field. That’s me sitting at Curly Lambeau’s feet.

I tried on a cheesehead at the Packer Pro Shop but it was a little too big.

One of our first adventures was to the Kettle Moraine forest in southeast Wisconsin. It was very hilly and there were lots of mosquitoes but it was fun.

A week before the Fourth of July we went to Madison Wisconsin – the capital. The capital building is very pretty. It has colorful mosaics covering the domed ceiling. I’m the tiny tan dot on the corner stone.

From there we headed to Governor Nelson State Park to find a letterbox and have a picnic before the fireworks. They celebrated the Fourth of July a week early in Madison. The fireworks were shot over Lake Mendota one of the two lakes that Madison is built around. It was a late night and it was good to get home.

The next week we went all the way up to Peshtigo, Wisconsin to do some more letterboxing. It was a really interesting place. In 1871 they had a fire that was the worst ever recorded in North America, even bigger than the famous Chicago fire. The two fires were even on the same night.

Well I had a fine time in Green Bay. I traveled over 360 miles while I was there, I meet a lot of nice people and had a great time. I can’t wait for my next adventure.

We went to Denton to a letterboxing gathering. We had a nice time of exchanging stamps and getting each other's travelers, etc. We found about 13 boxes while we were there!

Here are some pictures of our adventures. Once again Peggy was a real trooper. :)

She's had enough of us though and ready to move on to another family. We've really enjoyed her being with us.

Today we drove to Palestine, Tx for an East Texas letterboxing gathering. Several letterboxers in the area got together to exchange stamps, exchange personal travelers, and find boxes. It was neat to put faces to the names and stamps that I've been seeing these past few months.
Peggy had a great time. Unfortunetly there was a problem with my camera so I didn't get any pictures. :(

Peggy helped us plant 8 boxes! It took us several hours! By the time we were done we were all worn out. Peggy was a real trooper though.

I'm so happy to announce that we have our very first Letterboxing Buddy visiting us from Frankfort, NY! It's Peggy the Pug!! She will be hanging out with us for the next few weeks helping us plant our next set of boxes and attending a couple of gatherings with us. We plan on keeping her very busy with alot of letterboxing planned. The kids are so excited and have already fallen deeply in love with her. Smeagol, our Pug, has taken a liking to her as well. :)

Peggy the Pug goes to Texas!

Peggy headed out to Texas to spend some time with The Rodgers 7 around the middle of May. This is the first time Peggy has been away from home, but we're sure she's going to have a great time in Texas :) Peggy is a 'Lil Kinz Webkinz, she has her own virtual world you can play with her in :)

We're told Peggy was going to go to a couple events, I'm sure she will have alot of fun while she's there.
